Oct 4th 2009 04:23 am Dealing With The Global Economic Crisis

There are many new arising threats to the success of businesses. One of them is the global economic crisis. The dramatic recession throughout the world has caused an enormous threat to every business out there. It has brought forth many new risks and challenges that business are required to face even though it might not concern them. All over the world, many businesses have been found spending most of their time trying to win the fight against the economic crises. Most are losing a lot of income and are having absolutely no success whatsoever in their business. There is a lot of uncertainty in the performance of a business, and that’s what makes it hard to fight against this crisis.

There are many factors contributing to the fall of the businesses. The main ones are; environmental changes, such as global warming. Dramatic increases in oil prices, reaching over $4/gallon in the USA. Unhealthy competition which is caused by other businesses cheating their way to the top with sneaky and unfair tactics. There are many other factors that have contributed to the recession, but those are the main ones. Not only has it become way more expensive to do business, but it is also a lot riskier. Nearly all marketing strategies no longer work because people have no money to spend, so even the companies who have great sales representatives with a lot of experience are unable to persuade people into buying their products. It has also become harder to access affordable advertising methods because there are just too many people that are trying to advertise and it is basically first come first serve. What you need to understand is that you shouldn’t overspend in marketing the products that your business offers, but rather try to find an efficient and cost-effective method.

You need to remember that the crisis can also be an advantage to you. It all depends on how you view the situation. Think about it like this; in your city, there are 5 other businesses offering the same service as you and customers are split fairly evenly between these 5 companies and yourself. Now, in this recession, 4 of those companies have gone out of business and only one is left. This reduces competition that you may have had drastically, so if you make use of your money WISELY and EFFECTIVELY, you can actually make quite a bit of profit off of this recession. You must know that consumers are very aware and cautious in times of recession, and therefore they will not spend as they normally would spend on products they buy. This means that you must ensure that your teams of marketers knows about the products that you’re selling, and you price your products at a reasonable price.

Just remember : You don’t decide what to sell to your customers, your customers decide what to buy. Don’t focus on improving an area of your business that focuses on one product. Work on everything in general, because you can’t focus on certain products and hope people buy them.
